Delivery terms
| Topic | Buyer reference |
|---|---|
| FCA — named place | Suitable for any transport mode, including multimodal container shipments. Delivery to the buyer’s nominated carrier at the agreed place determines risk transfer; specify the precise handover point. |
| FOB — named port of shipment | For sea or inland-waterway transport. Delivery and risk transfer occur when the goods are on board the vessel at the shipment port. |
| CIF — named port of destination | The seller arranges freight and insurance to the destination port, but risk transfers when the goods are loaded on board at origin. Destination-paid freight does not mean destination risk transfer. |
Write the rule, named place or port and “Incoterms® 2020” in the quotation. For a container delivered to a terminal before vessel loading, discuss FCA. Confirm insurance cover, exclusions and the remainder of the sale contract separately.
